Geometric theory of diffraction

Geometric theory of diffraction (GTD) is an extension of geometrical optics to the medium containing discontinuous inhomogeneities. We solve the interaction of beams and obstacles, and laws of geometrical optics are completed that way, so that obvious incorrectness (discontinuities on the boundary of reflection region and shade one) are eliminated on one hand, and the advantages of the geometrical optics (the idea of beams) are preserved on the other hand.
