Moment method, moment solution

Moment method is a numeric method of solving integral equations (a sought function, e.g. current distribution on the antenna, is included in the integrated function). The method consists in the discretization of the analyzed structure, in formal approximation of the sought function (known basis functions and unknown approximation coefficients), in substituting the formal approximation to the solved equation (unknown approximation coefficients are removed from the integrated function and known basis functions are integrated), in minimizing the approximation error (the solved equation containing the formal approximation is sequentially multiplied by Dirac pulses in the center of discretization elements and the product is integrated over the whole analyzed structure - we obtain N equations for N unknown approximation coefficients) and in solving the final matrix equation (unknown approximation coefficients, and therefore, the approximation of the solution is obtained).
