RegisterSpherical waveEquiphase surfaces of a spherical wave are spherical surfaces. Their common center is called the phase center of a source. Spherical wave can be observed near a point radiator in free space (small antennas). Wave of real (large) sources is not spherical. However, assuming increasing distance from the source, the wave becomes spherical. In a free lossless medium, amplitude of the field intensity of the spherical wave is inversely proportional to the distance from the source. Back
