Conical monopole antenna

For the frequency and time domain measurement of the intra-vehicle signal propagation in UWB channel (measurement XY), we have developed a conical monopole antenna (Figure 1). The antenna was designed using electromagnetic simulator CST Microwave Studio. The measured parameters of the conical monopole antenna are summarized in Figure 2 and Figure 3. The antenna has omnidirectional H-plane radiation pattern which is mostly invariant within the desired frequency band. The antenna is suitable for measuring in time domain thanks to a low influence on the excitation pulse. Both simulated and measured fidelity factor of the antenna is better than 0.95.
